The MAX Challenge Week 5: Breaking Through Barriers

It's About Way More Than Weight Loss

By Marcie Ferrick, Macaroni Kid Lower Bucks, PA Publisher July 24, 2020

When I first spoke to The MAX Challenge of Feasterville Owner, Divya Kapur, about signing up for their first 10-week challenge, she told me that something special happens in Week Five. I was very intrigued, but honestly had forgotten about it by the time I approached that point in the Challenge. On Tuesday of Week 5, we were told that a surprise was coming the next day, celebrating us, the members. Now, I don’t want to ruin the surprise, so if you want to find out exactly what happened, you’ll need to sign up and find out for yourself. But what I will say is that what happened on Week 5 Day 3 truly reinforced the fact that The MAX Challenge is about much more than weight loss; this program is dedicated to transformation of body, mind, and soul. This is a community of people supporting one another in becoming the best possible versions of themselves. Keep in mind, I have yet to take a class in the actual Center. Although they are taking fantastic safety precautions, personally, I’m still a little hesitant to step back out into the world more than I absolutely need to, plus the timing of the virtual class works well for me. I remind you of that, though, to say that it’s amazing how influential the community factor of The MAX Challenge is even virtually. Through Zoom and members-only Facebook groups for the Feasterville Center and The MAX Challenge National, tips, recipes, motivation, accountability, and support are all shared with surprising power. Weekly Facebook Live videos such as "Mindfulness Walks," motivational talks, and cooking demonstrations further demonstrate The MAX Challenge's dedication, as a company, to leading members on a journey of positive, lasting change.

The workouts make me feel strong and powerful, confident and hopeful, and they are never boring. You’ve heard of the drinking game that goes with the song, “Roxanne” by The Police, right? Well, you haven’t truly worked out until you’ve played the squat game to “Roxanne.” Just saying.

[Shout-out to Lead Instructor, Linda, for that one today. She also used the phrase, “peaches for the beaches” while we were working on glutes. Gotta love her.]

My mid-point stats:

Weight: - 6.8 lbs.

Waist: - 0.5 in.

Hips: - 1 in.

Biceps: - 0.25 (L), same (R)

Thighs: - 1 (L), - 0.5 (R)

Chest: - 0.5 in.

Please note that I take these measurements (other than weight) with a grain of salt, since I’m taking them myself and am not completely sure I am holding the measuring tape in the exact same spot and exactly straight. What I know for sure is that I can now wear shirts that were too snug for me to wear confidently six weeks ago, and my size L pants are starting to fall during my workouts.
