For anyone stressing about how they're going to manage being a homeschool teacher on top of taking care of their homes, their families, their out-of-the-home-jobs (which may now be requiring you to explore the territory of remote work for the first time), and themselves (yes, this is important too), all I have to say is...thank goodness for the internet! There are tons of fantastic online resources for keeping kids engaged in learning, having fun, and providing a bit of structure to their day. Many of them are available for free any time, while some have made their resources available temporarily while schools are out (thank you for having mercy on our souls). There are resources for kids from pre-K through 12th grade in a variety of different areas. Are your kids really into animals? Check out one of the many animal live cams. Need some exciting story time ideas? Listen to a celebrity read a children's book on Storyline Online and use the activity guides to enhance learning. Find lessons for K-12 on Curriki, or use Scholastic's new Learn-At-Home site. Whatever you need, it's out there somewhere for free.
